Three ways to earn from TikTok

Each path has different rules, payouts and product limits. Health creators often combine them, because many health products are restricted inside TikTok Shop.

TikTok Shop affiliate

Tag eligible products in videos, lives and your showcase. Buyers check out inside TikTok.

How you get paid
Commission set by the seller, commonly in the 5% to 20% range, calculated on the price after discounts.
Access
Follower and account-standing requirements apply. Smaller US accounts typically start in a 30-day pilot with limited features.
Health limits
Prescription items, many medical devices and weight-management products are prohibited, and supplements are tightly controlled.
Best for: fitness gear, wearables, sleep and home-wellness products.

Off-platform affiliate

Use TikTok to build trust, then send viewers to your MarketHealth content and partner links.

How you get paid
Network or direct-program commissions, including recurring and per-lead models.
Access
Depends on the merchant and on whether your account type offers a link in bio.
Health limits
Platform branded-content rules still apply to your videos, and each merchant has its own claim rules.
Best for: subscriptions, apps, services and higher-consideration products.

Brand partnerships and UGC

Brands pay you for videos, usage rights or a flat sponsorship, often alongside a commission.

How you get paid
Flat fees, product gifting, or fee plus commission, negotiated per project.
Access
Pitch brands directly or use creator marketplaces. A clear niche and sample reel help.
Health limits
Restricted categories may require the brand to be approved by TikTok and the deal to run through TikTok One.
Best for: creators who already have steady views and a portfolio.

Program details change often. Treat figures here as orientation and confirm in your TikTok Creator Center before planning around them.

Your first 30 days

A simple order of operations so you learn the rules before you publish.

  1. Week 1: Foundations

Pick one audience and sub-niche. Read TikTok's branded content and Shop policies. Set up your profile and complete identity verification.

  2. Week 2: Practice

Write five scripts in the Script Lab. Film them without posting, and check every claim against the checklist.

  3. Week 3: Publish

Post one or two videos a day from your approved set. Turn on the branded content toggle every time you earn from a product.

  4. Week 4: Review

Check retention, product clicks and orders. Keep the formats that earn, drop the ones that do not, and start an email list.

Script Lab

Draft a short video script, add your caption, and get an instant check for risky health claims, missing disclosures and pacing. Try the risky example to see how flags work.

Your script

    Review

    0sspoken length
    0stop flags
    0caution flags

This is a teaching aid that checks wording patterns. It cannot judge whether a claim is true or substantiated, and it does not replace TikTok's policies or legal review.

    TikTok Shop earnings calculator

Estimate monthly commission from your views, product taps and orders. Commission is typically calculated on the price after discounts.

    $0/month

    Total views
    Product views
    Orders
    Sales value (GMV) after discounts
    Commission per order
    Commission per 1,000 views

Illustrative math, not a forecast. Many creators earn little at first, and results depend on product fit, trust and consistency.

    Health rules on TikTok

Health is one of the most restricted areas on the platform. Here is how the main categories are generally treated, and what to do about each.

Category Status What it means for you
Dietary supplements and vitamins Restricted Industry summaries report that under TikTok's Branded Content Policy (effective August 31, 2026), creator posts in this tier need a TikTok-approved brand and a partnership run through TikTok One, and may be age-restricted. Shop selling access is also reported as limited. Do not build your TikTok income around these.
Over-the-counter medicines Restricted Reported to sit in the same restricted branded-content tier as supplements. Skip unless the brand is approved and you work through TikTok One.
Prescription products and medical devices Prohibited Reported as prohibited on TikTok Shop, including prescription items and certain devices. Do not tag or promote them there.
Weight-management and diet products Prohibited or heavily limited Claims that tie body weight to worth or promise fast loss are not allowed, and content must not promote an unhealthy relationship with food or exercise.
CBD and hemp products Prohibited Reported as banned on TikTok Shop. Leave them out.
Skincare and beauty Mixed Some ingredients and claims are restricted. Check each product's listing and avoid treating or "fixing" skin conditions.
Fitness gear, wearables, sleep and home wellness Generally eligible Your best starting point. Still avoid medical, diagnostic or disease-related claims.

Based on industry summaries of TikTok's policies as of October 2026. TikTok updates these often, so confirm everything in the official Branded Content Policy, TikTok Shop Academy and your Creator Center.

    Before you post: checklist

      Check your knowledge

Five questions on the essentials. Retake as often as you like.
